UTS Systems Begins Full-Rate Production of Energy Efficient Small Shelter Systems (EESSS) for the U.S. Air Force
FAIRFIELD, Va. — August, 2025 — UTS Systems LLC has begun full-rate production and delivery under its $52 million firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract for Energy Efficient Small Shelter Systems (EESSS). The EESSS program, awarded in November 2022, represents a significant milestone in UTS’s partnership with the U.S. Air Force to enhance deployable infrastructure efficiency and performance.
Designed to reduce fuel consumption in expeditionary operations, EESSS shelters deliver exceptional thermal performance in both extreme hot and cold conditions. Preproduction testing demonstrated outstanding results across all environmental ranges.
Full-rate production began in early 2025, with initial deliveries commencing in June. UTS continues to receive excellent feedback from the Base Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) program and Air Force personnel at all levels, reinforcing confidence in the system’s capability and reliability.
“This contract marks a major step toward making UTS shelters the standard for Air Force expeditionary operations,” said Michael Tyson, VP of Programs. “We’re proud to support the Air Force’s mission readiness with systems that perform in the harshest conditions.”
